Competitive Starting Platforms
Design
The design of this starting platform is intended to comply with current FINA, USA
Swimming and NCAA requirements. Its long-reach design permits installation on pools where
overflows or other obstacles preclude installation of shorter-reach platforms.
Structural Frames
The structural frame of the Institutional Cantilever Starting Platform is of polished,
1.9-inch (48.3mm) Outer Diameter (OD), 304 stainless steel with a wall thickness of .145
inches (3.7mm) and bends (nominally) on a 6 inch (152.4mm) radius. The platform is
equipped with one stainless steel tread affixed to the frame at a 15° degree angle
for ease in mounting. This tread is 3 inch (76.2 mm) in width and 20 inch
(508mm) in length at the rail centerline. Strategic bends of the heavy-duty stainless
steel provide the tread's unmatched strength.
Treads
Contrasting beauty, sure-footing and secure mounting of the Elite™ Tread to
the frame section is enhanced by a replaceable, black non-skid, Cool-Touch™ tread
insert at the top and caps at either end of the tread.
Frames
The frame sections mount to the pool deck by two (2) IAA-00 Institutional Anchor Socket
Assemblies (included) and are protected by Institutional Escutcheon Plates (IEP-1 00) with
tamper resistant set screws. The frame legs are drilled to accept 3/8 inch (.38
inch//9.5mm) securing pins (included).
Backstroke Bar
The unit features a backstroke bar of polished, 1 inch (25.4mm) Outer Diameter
(OD), 316 stainless steel with a wall thickness of .065 inch (1.7mm) and bends (nominally)
on a 4 inch (101.6mm) radius. The backstroke bar attaches to the platform frame by four
stainless steel carriage bolts.
Platform
The 20x24 inch (508x609.6mm) platform is of laminated fir covered and reinforced
by fiberglass to which has a non-slip sand coating is applied for sure-footing. The
platform attaches to the frame at a (nominal) 10° slope by four stainless steel bolts.
To insure compliance with relevant regulations, orders for this model must include
deck to water level dimension.
